City of L.A. SUPPORTS Flying Taxis - Ask Reps To Protect Communities

Dear Supporters,

We were shocked that the City of Los Angeles submitted a comment IN SUPPORT OF flying taxis (also known as Advanced Air Mobility "AAM"/Urban Air Mobility "UAM"). Read City of L.A.'s disappointing comment HERE.

Will you stand with us and send reps an email telling them that Angelenos DO NOT want flying taxis at low altitude over homes, schools, businesses, and backyards? Click HERE for email addresses and suggested text.

We recognize that we have sent many action requests regarding flying taxis recently. We and Studio City For Quiet Skies have been trying to get ahead of this issue BEFORE flying taxis are overhead. This is our best chance to mitigate impacts, but we need your continued support to help stop flying taxis.

Thank you to everyone who submitted comments in response to our prior emails. There were 432 comments submitted, the vast majority from community members opposing flying taxis. Your participation matters and makes a difference. See article: The EVTOL community gets its first taste of organized community resistance.

CITY OF L.A. SUPPORTS FLYING TAXIS, BUT CONGRESSMAN SHERMAN SUBMITTED A COMMENT EXPRESSING CONCERN FOR COMMUNITIES

While the City did request that some impacts be studied, the comment makes clear that L.A. is a "test city" and is working hand-in-hand with federal agencies toward early implementation and "public acceptance" of flying taxis. The comment also states that the City aspires to eventually scale up AAM "to all corners of Los Angeles." Quotations from the City's comment letter:

  • "The City of Los Angeles appreciates recent opportunities to engage with the FAA and NASA on this effort, and continued coordination across all levels of government can further inform a national AAM strategy that delivers cohesive messaging to support broad public acceptance."

  • "AAM, in its mature form, will introduce aviation in novel ways to all corners of Los Angeles and our neighboring jurisdictions."

By contrast, Congressman Brad Sherman submitted a comment that supports the community and his constituents, not the multi-billion-dollar aviation industry. Please see the excellent comment letter submitted by Rep. Sherman HERE.

Thank you to Rep. Sherman who supports communities, not AAM!

ACTION STEP: SEND A PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL TO MAYOR'S OFFICE

The Mayor's office led on this issue and gave the green light to scaled up implementation of AAM in Los Angeles. Please write and let them know that you do not want flying taxis in L.A.’s already crowded airspace, and that you are outraged by the City's comment in support of AAM. Feel free to write your own email or:

If you have any issues copying and pasting the email or addresses, please contact uproarla@gmail.com. Please see our prior emails for further information about AAM/flying taxis: Email 1, Email 2, Email 3, and Email 4. Thank you for your support!
